"Little Pictures" a new collaboration with old friends

Ilan Morgenstern, Principal Bass Trombonist at the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and Sterling Maffe go back years! In 2015, the two collaborated on the recording of Maffe's award winning piece "Aficionado". The two reconnect after nearly a decade to produce a new composition titled "Little Pictures for Bass Trombone and Orchestra". Morgenstern today performed the piece at the International Trombone Festival in Salt Lake City, Utah with by an expertly-crafted computer rendering of the orchestral accompaniment. The music serves as a "proof of concept" for a new concerto the two are working on to be premiered in 2024.
